It was pure fate that I was able to capture this San Francisco Courthouse Elopement, but I thank my lucky stars that I was able to do so! Talk about a bucket list location 😍.
C & C reached out to me to capture their celebration in the San Juan Islands (blog to come, you won’t want to miss that one either) and we immediately hit it off. She mentioned that they plan on having their true wedding at the San Francisco Courthouse then a big party with their friends and family a month later. She said she knew it wasn’t likely but asked if that is something I’d be interested in capturing for them as well. Since I had a full schedule for the year and was traveling all over already, I wasn’t keen on another trip but told her I’d look into the dates and let her know.
Well it turned out, I was already driving to Northern California that same exact weekend for another wedding! Meaning it just a quick addition to drop down to San Francisco!
Did I fully think through that I’d be driving 11 hours alone 6 months pregnant during fire season? Not entirely. Did I run into some issues along the way and have to extend my trip? Sure. But that makes it all the more of an adventure!
I walked into the San Francisco Courthouse and my jaw just dropped. I felt like we were in another country! As I panned around, there was just wedding couple after wedding couple after wedding couple. Standing in one spot I counted at least 25 couples getting their photos done in various parts of the courthouse.
As someone who usually does most of their work outdoors, I felt a bit overwhelmed at first in full transparency wondering how I was going to get the epic shots my couple deserved when there was just people everyyyyywhereeeeeeee…. But have a look. I think I did alright 😍😍.
One pointer I will give anyone looking into an elopement or wedding here is to get an appointment as late in the day as you can. After their ceremony finished up, we wandered around a bit and found some more hidden/quiet hallways then by the time we were done there the main feature stairwell was wide open for us!
Their website gives you the information you need to know on how to obtain appointments and reserve space for your own elopement/wedding. I highly recommend checking it out if this is something you’re considering!
Please enjoy this San Francisco Courthouse Elopement! I know that I did, and can’t wait to get back for another one!
To see more of C&C in a different environment, check out their celebration in the San Juan Islands. It was a multi-day celebration complete with a sound bath and pizza bar! I am heading back to Friday Harbor in a couple of months and just love it there.
