There is a funny story about how I ended up photographing this intimate wedding in coastal Maine….
This couple had a full wedding plan underway here in Oregon at a family orchard. Great! They then emailed me one day and just said “hey, we are thinking about changing things up a little regarding our wedding.. would you have time to chat?”. Coming out of 2020 and all of the reschedules and plan changes, this seemed like just another email.
We hop on a call and they say that they’re thinking about pivoting from a family property in Oregon…. to a super sentimental family property in MAINE! What?! So fun! Of course I was immediately down and knew we needed to make it happen.
This location has literally been in the Bride’s family for generation after generation. I can’t remember the exact number but I believe her great, great, great grandparents honeymooned there! Which lead them to purchase a cottage there which then trickled down through the family to multiple cottages and countless family memories along the Maine coastline!
Their new plan consisted of a Lobster bake welcome dinner complete with bibs and buckets for all of their guests 😍. They got to share such a special space and piece of the country with all of their friends and celebrate in the most fun way.
This trip was especially fun for me as I also got to explore three new states on the adventure. I flew in a few days early to spend some time in Boston as I had never been (and I freaking loved it). Then took my time driving up to Maine exploring Salem and New Hampshire along the way! We then stayed at the cutest lodge on the water in rural Maine with our own little waterfront cottage and the whole thing was just perfection!
It ended in a whirlwind where I finished shooting their wedding, drove the 3.5 hrs to Boston in the middle of the night, slept for 1 hr then boarded a plan to Cancun bright and early the next morning! Hmm… maybe that blog should be next!
Enjoy this glimpse into their intimate wedding in coastal Maine and please let me know if you have any questions! It truly was the most special and lovely day. Days like this, I would photograph over and over and over again. Honestly Maine reminded me of the San Juan Islands in Washington if you’re looking for a similar close by option!
