When we decided we wanted to have a Destination Wedding ourselves, we had no idea how to actually make it happen. We were overwhelmed with the organization and logistics of it all, but just knew we wanted it to happen!
A thought came to me probably in the bathtub like most good ideas do to reach out to a travel agent and see what the options are. You probably have the same thought I had of “I don’t really know what travel advisors do or if they exist anymore” but it was worth a shot.
BEST DECISION EVER.
Fast forward now two years, and I was so blown away by the help of our Travel Advisor that I became one myself! I want to help couples have their own fabulous Destination Wedding experience. Even better, I can now book epic Honeymoon’s for my wedding couples too!
You are engaged, woo! You want to get married in somewhere that will be a “destination” for you and/or most of your guests. This could mean international, maybe it is the Oregon Coast, maybe Southern California. Anywhere that travel and logistics is involved for most. You can come to your travel advisor (spoiler alert, that’s me) with a rough idea of what you’re thinking and they will use their expertise to suggest the perfect properties and locations for your vision! They will the negotiate a group contract which often comes with perks and benefits for you and incentives for your wedding day as well. Win win!
Your advisor will then help your friends and fam get their options all laid out, booked and paid for so all you have to do is focus on wedding planning. You won’t be the one getting bombarded with questions and flight schedule changes and asking for recommendations. Your advisor takes all of that off your plate!
You plan your wedding with the help of the in-destination wedding team being as involved or not as you want to be. I know for me, I didn’t really care too much about the tiny details. I was happy to just pick their premade stuff! But you can make it as custom and lavish as you choose!
And obviously, factor in bringing your fabulous vendors that you just can’t live without (*cough me cough*). I mean how cool to have a photographer & travel advisor travel with your group!
You can rest easy knowing that professionals will manage all of the hard stuff. You get to board the plane, train or automobile and show up ready to have the time of your life. Most destination weddings end up being multi-day celebrations since everyone will be there for more than just the one evening. The options are endless! Your rehearsal dinner could be a bonfire on the beach. Your “day after” could be a group catamaran and snorkel as shown below in this wedding! The best part is that since your guests have spent the days and nights leading up to the big day together in a casual setting, the wedding day is carefree and easy. No bouncing from table to table feeling like you have to rush to talk to everyone. You get to just enjoy the festivities!
All in all, I hope this helped you see how truly easy it is to have a destination wedding, no matter the “destination”. Enjoy this other destination wedding with a completely different vibe in coastal Maine!
