The riverside Washington wedding of Kristen and Justin were a late addition to my 2019 Wedding line up. Yet I wouldn’t have had it any other way. They had to expedite planning for family reasons and for the short timeframe they had to plan, they went above and beyond! You never know what to expect with “family property” weddings, but yet again… this riverside Washington wedding celebration did not disappoint! As Justin is French and his family all flew in from France, they so perfectly combined both American and French traditions and cultures.
When wedding day arrived, the weather greeted us with true Pacific Northwest fashion. We had black skies, wind, torrential rain. Even enough hail to completely cover the ground. Obviously, there is nothing to be done about this other than shift timelines around. Nevertheless, Kristen and Justin handled it flawlessly! We rolled with the flow, took advantage of sunny moments when we had them. But also had clear umbrellas and fleece-lined denim jackets on hand for whenever needed. Their little baby nugget even included himself (they found out the gender a few days after their wedding💙) in their first look giving Kristen actual butterflies!
The ceremony and vows were dictated in both English and French which was such a special treat for everyone. Some guests spoke very little English so to have that available to them was such a thoughtful gift. As the party continued, there were sprinklings of the French culture throughout. For example including dinner with multiple courses! It was a joy to experience and capture this through the extended cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, then the full multi-course dinner, as it truly allowed the guests (and the couple) to mingle with everyone and enjoy each others company!
We had a shortened portrait time since Mother Nature had other plans for the day. But it didn’t seem to matter. Between the fall trees and driveways lined with leaves, and the riverside beach and pine trees, and the most easy going couple of all time. There was a perfect photo opportunity wherever we turned! The evening continued with thoughtful toasts (complete with childhood photos in a slideshow – my favorite), games, and dancing!
Enjoy this small glimpse into their oh so perfect riverside Washington wedding! I had such a blast capturing the love of these two (self-proclaimed) “nerds”. That is why am so in love with their story. The vendors are listed at the bottom of the page. So if you see something you love, feel free to reach out to them! Cheers!
