Styled shoots sometimes get a bad reputation because people falsely advertise them as real weddings even if they’re not or fill their portfolio strictly with models and not REAL bodies! I go back-and-forth on my view of them and honestly didn’t even give them a chance until recently when we shoot at the inn at Avonlea, but lately I’ve really come to love them for multiple reasons!!
The first reason being it really allows me to just be creative without any pressure. It is when I get to try new techniques, new styles, new shooting angles, new equipment, all of the fun and exciting things that I don’t want to try on a whim during a high-pressure wedding day! Because that wouldn’t be fair to my clients. These styled shoots allow me to really play around and practice and become a better photographer.
They also allow me to work with a bunch of new and exciting vendors that I haven’t had the opportunity to work with yet and maybe wouldn’t otherwise. By doing these, I am able to build more relationships with other vendors and develop my recommendations list for clients like you guys who may want a recommendation for a florist, wedding planner or calligrapher. By working hand-in-hand with these amazing people, I am able to then properly recommend them instead of blindly basing their skills off of their work on social media.
This styled shoot was especially magical to me because my best friend is getting married at The Inn at Avonlea later this year! I was excited to see all of the nooks and crannies of it. It made me even more excited for her special day to come! I’m not photographing that day but you know I’ll bring my camera along… Just in case.
Now enjoy this glimpse of the beauty I was able to partake in a couple of months ago. The florals are absolutely unreal and the colors were right up my alley! All of the incredible vendors are listed at the bottom of the post. Feel free to Pin, share and store these images for inspiration to use for your special day! As always reach out with any questions or comments 💕
