This whole experience was just… I don’t even have the words for this tropical Hawaiian wedding!
I had the pleasure of taking Brittney & Una’s family portraits a couple of years ago at a Christmas Tree Farm. We got to know each other a bit during their session and I found out they are both from Hawaii (different islands) and were engaged at the time. I jokingly told them that when they plan their Hawaii wedding to give me a call.
Fast forward about six months later… I’m walking through a Vegas hotel on a weekend trip with our close friends and I get a text from Brittney asking if I’d be interested in capturing their Maui wedding. The literal happy dance that ensued right there on the Vegas strip is probably viral on the internet somewhere! Not only was my dream of being able to capture a Hawaiian wedding coming true but it was with THE MOST incredible people.
Their Oregon Coast engagement session was one for the books and is continuously shared by me because, they’re the cutest and the perfect starting point for their wedding adventure to come. (You can relive that magical session over here!)
We opted to do a sunrise beach session with their girls a few days prior to their wedding because their wedding venue (Lona Ridge Estate) is up in the hills of Maui. Sunrise beach sessions may be my new FAVORITE thing because these colors are just 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. Sunrise Hawaii elopement? BRING IT ON!
Wedding day arrives in true Hawaiian rainforest fashion… with a downpour. The planned ceremony on the viewpoint of the property and reception on the grounds surrounding the pool was all shifted inside. While it wasn’t the initial plan it turned out to be the most beautiful Plan B.
Brittney was adamant that no matter what, she was down for outdoor portraits rain or shine so after the oh-so-sweet ceremony, the three of us frolicked barefoot through the pouring rain. This just goes to show that no matter the weather of your wedding day, we CAN and WILL get breathtaking portraits! I mean, just look below! You can see the raindrops coming down — and I mean, COMING DOWNNNNNN — yet we had a blast! I had mud all the way up to my knees and didn’t even bother putting my Berks back on.
Running barefoot through a grassy field overlooking the entire island of Maui with the sweetest Bride & Groom… I genuinely don’t know how I got this lucky.
Now to quite possibly my favorite wedding moment to date! Brittney is pregnant with their third baby. Seriously look at how cute their girls are down below. Their cake cutting during the wedding was also a surprise GENDER REVEAL! I honestly think everyone was most excited for this part! As always, everyone is happy with a healthy baby no matter than gender but with two girls already, well, you can see his (and their families) reactions below. Spoiler alert… IT’S A BOY!
I could go on and on about this day and this family but I’ll let the images below do most of the talking. I can’t get over how lucky I am to have been their Maui Wedding Photographer. Vendors are listed at the bottom! Enjoy this small glimpse into their perfect day! 🥰
